At Christmas my niece organized a Yankee swap, the theme of which was My Favorite Things. No surprise that in our family of voracious readers there were quite a few book related items being fought over, second only to the bottles of wine that were exchanged. What goes better with a good book than a glass of wine? Maybe throw in some chocolate and a toasty warm fire to make it a near perfect experience.

Although I read somewhat fewer books than normal this year ~ I devoted more time to writing and deciding what to do about a contract offered on one of my books ~ I did manage to consume a good list of quality novels. It was hard to narrow it down, but there were four titles that stood out for me. And I list them in no particular order because they are each so uniquely different.

All the Light We Cannot See                The Invention of Wings

The Girl You Left Behind

In my opinion, you can’t miss with any of these, no matter your tastes. So grab a glassred-wine-chocolate-bar-selective-focus-33068035
of
pinot noir, lay some logs on the fire and cuddle up with a favorite book.

It will be a delightful escape.

Oh yes…and don’t forget the bar of Lindt dark chocolate with a hint of sea salt. Yum!
