I would like to share the award winning essay of Miss Madeleine Jarbeau, who is certain to have a literary career of her own one day. Miss Maddie, as we affectionately call her, is the young daughter of our nephew and niece, Jocko and Jennifer Jarbeau and sister to Jeremy and Samantha. Madeleine reminds us in her own creative way just how important it is to find some magic in every day.

castleIf I ruled Eldredge Castle, grades would be based on how much fun you had.

           Here is the grading system ↓
                        Report Card
                 A+ = non-stop laughing
                 B = mostly having fun
                 C = sad sometimes
                 D = bored and grouchy
                 F = always moody, sad, and bad

All good behavior would be rewarded with candy. Blow up slides would be used to exit during fire drills. As queen of Eldredge, stuffed animals and real animals would roam the school. The cafeteria will be replaced with Chik-Fil-A. The gym floor will be replaced with a giant trampoline. During music class ice cream will be served. Also, Del’s Lemonade will be served in art class.

Last of all, Mr. Guisti’s office will be replaced with a hot tub and kids will take limos home.

trampoline-clipart-trampolineI’m ready to sign up as one of her subjects!

How about you?

  1. Hi it’s me Maddie the author. I am in 3rd grade at Eldridge Elementary. I wish school was like my story.

    Peace and Love,

    Maddie

  2. What a thoughtful and fun essay, Miss Maddie. I’m planning on a B on this beautiful fall Monday morning. Hmmm….I would normally strive for an A. Perhaps I need to elevate my attitude, study a little harder!

    1. Take a drive through the colorful Ohio hills and I’m sure you’ll be saying bye-bye to that B and hello AA++…you deserve it, Barbie! And remember…there’s candy!

  3. As a former PE teacher…with the floor being a trampoline, I know my students would be jumping for joy, dunking basketballs and flipping out!!!

    1. So wonderful to see a reply from you Dar! FYI Maddie, Mrs. Reese was THE BEST Phys-Ed teacher. You would have loved being in her class!

  4. What a sweet story! The creativity is outstanding! Maddie…good luck in school and continue writing…I will be watching for more stories from you!! I think you have a future in writing children’s books!!!!

  5. What a great idea, Maddie–I want to move to Eldredge Castle! Is it too late for me to go back to school? I’m at work today so it’s a bit of a D-Day for me, but I’m looking forward to an A-Day tomorrow when I’ll be home with lots of candy, ice cream and our three cats (Bart, Lisa & Maggie) roaming the house.

    1. I believe Maddie would have a full house…er…castle if we adults all had our way. It won’t be long before you have your own comfy castle at Colony Road when every day will be an A+!

  6. What a wonderful essay, Maddie! I wish my school in Georgia was just like this one. You are a very talented writer, keep up the A+ work.
    XOXO

    1. Hi Kim! Perhaps it’s time to open an Eldredge Castle in Georgia! I hope Maddie is checking all the great responses she’s received.

  7. Maddie, What a fun school! You may not know that Loretta had a trampoline in her high school gym class! I know that she could do a cheerleading jump on it! Keep up the good work!
